Southern California’s 2024 wildfire season has been very severe in Avocado andCitrus orchards. The main source of damage has been scorching and desiccation of leaves, twigs and fruits due to the intense heat of fires adjacent to orchards. Sometimes, the fires invade the orchard – trees are burned, and nearby trees are scorched.
Specific crop losses are still being assessed. These losses can be significant. The major question for most growers is: how long until my trees recover?
Growers are already putting tree recovery processes into effect. One of the most effective components of the recovery process can be Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed extracts added to irrigation water.
