Windjammer® is one of the flagship products of the Ocean Organics surfactant line that we produced to help superintendents control moisture within a plant’s soil profile. Windjammer is a soil surfactant that is a blend of non-capped chemistries, which makes it unique within the space of turfgrass soil surfactants. Windjammer’s effectiveness lies in its ability to balance water movement through both hydrophilic and hydrophobic soil particles. This feature is particularly beneficial in sandy soils, where water tends to drain quickly, and in compacted or clay soils, where water penetration is often limited. By improving soil structure and hydration, the surfactant fosters stronger root systems and healthier plants that are better equipped to withstand environmental stresses, including drought and heat.
Using a blend of molecules promotes firmer, drier, and faster surfaces along with superior turfgrass quality. Windjammer also allows for increased soil moisture uniformity while also allowing for a slower and more predictable dry down, which helps reduce hand watering. More impressively Windjammer has been shown to reduce the wilt point of turf compared to similar products.
